Well the topic de jour amongst my fellow Laramie residents is the air quality. There is a wild/forest fire raging in the mountains to the west of us. They are calling it the Mullen Fire and if the winds are just right, the smoke is carried to Laramie. We have spent many of day (and evening) staying indoors and making sure all of the doors and windows were closed.
Earlier today, I heard that the fire had expanded to over 160,000 acres and it isn't even close to being contained. This photo, taken by my wife as we drove into town on Sunday, shows just how smoky the skies have gotten.
My hat is off to the fine people who are on the frontline battling this fire. The fire is giving them quite a challenge and I hope the mother nature will soon give them some relief. These people are the true heroes up here!
