FINA water polo comes to my area!!

RCC pool hosted FINA water polo tournament.

This evening my fellow swim/waterpolo coach and friend Kevin and I headed out to the Riverside City College (RCC) aquatics center to watch something I've never seen live: FINA water polo!

This week through Sunday, the Riverside Aquatics Association is hosting The FINA Women’s Intercontinental Water Polo tournament, an eight team tournament of national teams inlcuding Brazil, Japan, China, Kazakhstan, Canada, Australia, Venezuela, and of course Team USA!! Team USA has numerous Olympians in it's line up, including Betsey Armstrong, Kami Craig, and Maggie Steffens.

As big a fan as I am of water polo, I've never had the opportunity to watch this level of water polo. What an exciting time! We got to see action that was well executed; passes were done with precision and accuracy. Fast sprints were happening all of the time. It gave both of us an idea of what this level of water polo is doing and some direction to take our team next year.

So if you are an Inland Empire water polo fan, you need to get down to the RCC pool and catch this action!
