July VW meet was a success!

In my eyes, yesterday was a successful meeting for our Laramie based VW car club, Thin Air Dub Club! We had a total of six cars at the meet, one of which was my WyoLook '69 Bug!! It felt so great to drive her into the parking lot and park in the line up! I have to say that I'm still excited to have gotten to that milestone, as it seemed like it would never get there!

We had two cars who made the trip over from Cheyenne which is about an hour drive, including an 8600' summit! It was great to see everyone there, to meet a few new faces, and just share our cars and discuss what it is like to be a VW owner. We even had a few people honk at our line up of VWs at the Sonic Drive-In as they drove by. I can only hope that being seen like that will help create more VW enthusiasts in Larame!

After we all got in our VWs and headed home, I was itching to take my Bug for spin and show her more of Laramie. I stopped by a sandwich shop, got some lunch, and headed out. My first stop was to explore a part of the University of Wyoming campus and see if I could find a good place for some photos. I found a parking lot to the southwest of War Memorial Stadium (UW's football stadium) that looked promising.

As I left the campus, I thought it might be interesting to try some photos in front of the visitor's center at the Wyoming Territorial Prison State Historic Site. Lucky for me, the site wasn't really busy at that moment, so I pulled up in the loading area directly in front of the visitor's center. I tried to incorporate the location and the car into what I thought was an appealing photo.

While I was there, the lady who runs the visitor's center returned from lunch and stopped by to talk to me as she walked back. We had a nice conversation about old cars, which is something I love to do with people!
