More car talk!

If you read last week's post, you know that I was scrambling to get my WyoLook Bug ready for a local car show that was being held at the Wyoming Territorial Prison State Historic Site. My brother Chris and I scrambled to get the Bug running, and we were SO close, but a dead fuel pump meant that it wasn't going to be in attendance.

Lucky for me, I was still able to ride into the show in a cool car: my brother's '67 VW Bug! He bought it last fall and has been slowly getting it to road worthy status. He drove up from Fort Collins the night before for this show. The Bug made the trip with only a few hiccups. I'm really excited to watch the progress of this Bug and where Chris takes it!

Chris and I had a great time, hanging out and talking with our fellow car gear heads. We saw some really great cars there, these were some of my favorites:

As I mentioned earlier, the Bug is in need of a fuel pump. After Chris left to go home, I drove around to our local auto parts stores. None of the shops had one, so it would have to be ordered. The quotes went from $50 up to $90 for the pump! Contrast that with the price from a big VW vendor, CB Performance, who sells the pump on their web site for $19.95. I'm not in a rush to get the pump that I'd pay twice as much for it, but I was willing to pay a little more to have it in a day or two. Before I order it online, I'm going to check in with some of my VW buddies here in Laramie and Cheyenne and see what they suggest.

Update: One of my VW buddies from Cheyenne has a fuel pump he is willing to let me have, on the agreement that I replace it later. I'm going to pick up the pump tomorrow, so hopefully I can install it tomorrow and have her running by the evening!!

Now on to Thin Air Dub Club news. Our next scheduled meet is July 10th and I'm thinking this meet will be epic for me! First off, my Bug SHOULD be running well enough for me to drive it to the meet! Second, I think we are going to do a cruise through Laramie, and then out to a bakery just outside of town: Golden Prairie Bakery. My wife and I love the delicious baked goods there and the owners are great people. So if the weather agrees with us, I hope it all goes along as planned!
