Looking back at six years!

Six years ago today, our family and friends joined Renee and I in sweltering heat in an church (with no air conditioning) to witness us taking our vows. It was a day that both of us will never forget. In the years from Super Pi Day (3/14/15), we've had quite an adventure. I thought I'd take this moment and share some of the things that we've done in the time since Super Pi Day!

We are no strangers to long distance relationships, as we spent about two years living 1,000 miles apart: she was attending the University of Wyoming pursuing her Master's degree and I was at home in southern California, working full time and working on my Bachelor's degree. So three months after our wedding, we moved Renee back to Laramie. Why? The opportunity for her to fulfill one of her dreams: a job as a museum curator. She was going to be the museum curator for the Wyoming Territorial Prison State Historic Site, the same place that she worked in as a seasonal a couple years earlier. So when the opportunity presented itself, we packed up her necessities and drove her to Laramie. I was so excited to be a part of her journey into her starting the career that she had worked so hard to attain.

In the years that were to follow, we've had many adventures with our new life here in Wyoming. We've discovered that we both love to explore the world around us and learn about the history. The photo above was taken in a local mountain range nicknamed the Snowies, at a lake called Lake Marie. Lake Marie and her neighbor Mirror Lake are two of our favorite places to visit when we need to get away from civilization.

In 2018, Renee and I had the opportunity to attend a Green Bay Packers football game in at Lambeau Stadium in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The tickets were a gift from her kids and since Renee is a life-long Packers fan, she was so excited to go. I was excited to go too, as I had never been that far east in my limited travels. We stayed at a hotel in Milwaukee and hopped on a shuttle that took us from Milwaukee to the stadium. The team didn't play too well that day, but we had a great time cheering for them and exploring the stadium. Even though the stadium is small compared to the newer NFL stadiums(at least that is what I've been told), we were still blown away with how large it was.

Some our most memorable trips have been coming back to California. Our road trips between home and California are times where we can just talk without the distraction of work or other obligations. I feel fortunate that we can do those trips and enjoy the time together.

Even with the crazy year that was 2020, we managed to find a safe get-away in Colorado for a few days. During this trip, we got to ride the Georgetown train and learn about the history of Georgetown. It was great to get away from the routine and escape into a safe area away from civilization and from people. Quiet alone time helped us to recharge for what the rest of 2020 was about to bring.

So on this day to celebrate our marriage, what are we going to do? As only we can do on our wedding anniversary, Renee and I are on a road trip to southern California! Yes folks, we aren't going to have a fancy meal or spend the day at home together. Nope, we are going to be driving! Looking forward to seeing some family and friends there and then help my step-daughter move back to Wyoming. It is always an adventure in the Wyo-Slider household!!
