Summer is here!

As I walked to the pool office this evening, I realized that summer was truly upon us. There was a line of families and kids lined up alongside of the pool office, indicating that the rec swimmers are going to be a constant presence for the next two to three months. The reason that I dread this time of the year is that inevitably, I will get a clueless or self-entitled rec swimmer who will use our Masters swimming lanes to go from the deep end of the pool to the shallow end, rather than using the ladders or steps on either side of the pool.

When these swimmers do this migration across our lanes, they never quite get the concept to watch out for us. If we are doing freestyle correctly, we will not see them in front of us. That means that too many times we've swam right into them and had no clue that they were there.

Luckily no one has gotten injured, but I know that eventually someone is going to get hurt. This is especially true with me, as I am not a little guy. If I run into you, physics states that I will probably done some damage. I don't want to hurt anyone, I just want to swim without fear of swimming into someone. :(
