Nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, and at the western exit to Rocky Mountain National Park, lays a beautiful lake community of Grand Lake, Colorado. Renee and I first visited Grand Lake last summer and we had a great time. It is a quaint small community with a bustling downtown area with restaurants and shops. We enjoyed our visit up there last year, but we went later in the season and many of the shops had already closed. We knew that we had to visit this year, but to come earlier so we could see all of the shops.
My mother in law has been visiting with us from southern California, and since she had never been to Grand Lake, we decided to do a road trip yesterday with her and see more of Grand Lake.
When we got to Grand Lake, the sun was out and the skies were blue. It was gorgeous and the temperature was just perfect. After walking around downtown, we took a drive down to the lake side to get a photograph of the lake. By this time the clouds had started to move and the mercury had dropped.
The gloomy skies and colder temperature didn't stop us from parking the car and utilizing the gorgeous view with a selfie!
Next year we are talking about maybe securing a room up there and making it a weekend trip. There are so many sights that we want to see and just don't have the time to do it all in one day!
