Itching to get back into the Type 4 scene!

As I look out the window while at work, I watch the snow falling. It is probably the fifth snow storm we've had this fall. With the reality settling into my brain, that working in the garage is going to be a rare event, I'm looking at things I can do inside the warm house (and not upset the wife with greasy parts!!!).

For those of you that have known me for many years, you will recall that about twenty years, I created and promoted a web site that focused just on the Type 4 engine and how to convert them for use in a Bug/Ghia/Thing/Type 3/early Type 2/etc. The web site was titled "Type 4: Secrets Revealed". The research and data that I had gathered was organized and made easy to understand. I spent a lot of time accumulating the information, organizing it, and then making all of that information  easy to find and understand.

It was going well for probably 8-10 years, which included a one page feature in a British VW magazine (Total VW) in 2001 or so. I was also approached by a VW club in Australia to use one of my technical articles in their newsletter. The best part of that time period was the friends I made. So many great folks provided great feedback, support, and even submitted photos of their parts stash or project.

As what usually happens with great projects, life gets in the way. A failed divorce, taking control of my health, going back to college to finish my bachelor's degree, and moving to Wyoming all meant that I didn't have the time or energy to maintain the site the way I wanted to. In fact the site had disappeared from the web.

I'm now looking to dive back into the Type 4 scene and my first act is to bring the site back! Type 4: Secrets Revealed is coming back! In my time here in Wyoming, I have gotten to be a friend with a fellow who shares my interest in Type 4 engines.

Right now I've got the core web site structure transferred to Google Sites. The site will look similar to those of you who frequented in the past, but there are some new changes. I am going to start revising the writing of the site, and working with my friend, I am going to start adding new photos. The photos that I originally used are quite small by today's standards and aren't always a great way to visualize the engine parts. In the years since then, photography technology has grown by leaps and bounds, and I've picked up the title of amateur photographer.

I am so excited to be back in the community and to be updating the web site. Stay tuned for updates, as I will post the updates as they are completed on my social media sites!
