As I posted in the previous post, this summer hasn't been the best when it comes to swimming. It seemed like I was either sick or recovering, or my wife was. Of course, being sick meant staying out of the water, and that mean I lost some of my fitness that I was accumulating.
In the time I've been living up here in Laramie, I've also come to the realization that with my professional and personal obligations, swimming after work doesn't work as well as I would like. If I could get out of the office early enough, I can get in a swim before the pool is taken over (all but two lanes) for swim lessons.
So instead of trying to rush after work to get over to the Laramie Recreation Center and in the water, I decided to give swimming in the morning before work. So that entails getting up before the sun and walking on to the pool deck when the sun still hasn't risen. It was pitch black out there this morning!
Well, had did it go? Surprisingly well actually! I was able to get a lane to myself at 6 AM, and I got in a tad over a 1/2 mile (900 yds). I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but man it still amazes me how a couple of months away from the pool can cause your fitness level to basically disappear.
It's time to head to work! See ya around!
