So what's going on lately with your UberClydesdale? I am currently in California, on a quick trip to celebrate my step-daughter graduating from high school and packing her up to move her back to Wyoming. I was very lucky that my younger brother +Chris Slider was able to get some time off and join us on this road trip.
After we had packed up the U-Haul trailer with all of my step-daughter's stuff, there was some extra room. I had hoped for this situation, as I had plans for the extra room. This plan was bringing back a couple of my bicycles that are currently located in my storage unit. We drove the truck over to the storage and extracted these two gems:
1989 Klein Quantum
The first one to get loaded was the bike that means the most to me, the 1989 Klein Quantum that I saved all summer for my senior year of high school. This road bike featured some really components from the time period, including a full Shimano Ultegra 7 speed gruppo, an American Classic seatpost, Selle Italia Turbo saddle, Modolo bars & stem, Specialized carbon water bottle cages, Zefal Hp X4 frame pump, and custom built wheels with Matrix ISO-C aero clincher rims with double-butted spokes and Ultegra hubs. I do admit that my favorite feature was the deep red paint. If I recall correctly, the color was called "Very Fast Red". It was just gorgeous! 1997 Klein Pulse Pro

The other bike that made it into the trailer isn't quite as special as the Quantum, but she is a Klein. This beauty is a 1997 Klein Pulse Pro that I bought many moons ago off of eBay.
This Pulse Pro is mostly original, at least as original as when I purchased it. It has had a few upgrades, like a better fork and a saddle better suited for this guy. I rode this bike for a while back in California on the nearby Pacific Electric Bike Trail.
The Quantum and Pulse are now loaded into the trailer and in a few days will be home back in Laramie!
Left behind but still missed
While Chris and I were digging out the Quantum and the Pulse, we also took a moment to dig out the other two beauties but they will not be able to make the trip back home with us. The top bike was my first "real" bicycle: a 1985 Peugeot PH10LE 'Tourmalet' road bike. This was a Christmas gift in 9th grade. Up until that point I was riding around the neighborhood in a revived JC Penney 10 speed that belonged to my Dad. The Peugeot was my first taste about what road bike could do.
The bottom bike was one I bought to replace the Peugeot, a 1987 Trek 560 in aqua. The Peugeot lacked many features I wanted and had many oddball parts. I made sure that the Trek had things like a a SIS drivetrain, SLR braking, 700c wheels, a standard cassestte (not the Heliomatic mess on the Peugeot), and a frame pump peg. This beauty served me well for a few years, until I decided a need to build my dream bike, my Klein Quantum.
