Capacities: Your Mind's Digital Studio

For the last few years, I've been on a mission. What mission is that Tom? I've been evaluating different note taking programs/applications that fit into my workflow and align with my way of thinking.

Until recently, the applications have been traditional note taking. Some of the apps have made their place in my workflow (both personal & professional), like Google Keep for my quick and simple notes. For my more complex notes and projects, I've been trying to find something that meets my needs. It was this hunt that led me to discover Capacities.

A Different Way Of Thinking

Capacities is more than just a conventional note-taking app. Instead of using the computer's way of thinking about files, this app tries to create a workflow that is more like how you think. The system uses the idea of grouping similar objects together.

It reminds me of object oriented programming. Back in college, I took classes on OO languages, mainly C++ and C#. Every object type has similar properties that are specific to that kind of object. Take for instance digital photographs versus a note. You could set up the photo to track the photograph's data, like the date/time it was taken, the location, etc., along with any other data pertinent to that object.

Daily Notes

It also allows the use of daily notes allows you to quickly enter ideas, thoughts, resources, which you can later utilize. It stores these notes by date. You can then see all of the notes you took on a selected date.

Exploring Ahead

I'm still new to Capacities and exploring what it can do. I'm really intrigued with it's model, so I'll be playing with it. I'll definitely post a follow-up in the future!
