To be honest, I wasn't sure what I was going to write about this week. Life has been relatively quiet in our house. The weather is morphing into our cold 'winter' weather. Yes, I know winter doesn't officially start until December 21st, but here in Laramie the cold weather makes its first appearance in October. In fact, in October this year, we had four small snowstorms. This is the time period where you put away the shorts and sandals, and break out the heavy jackets, beanies, gloves, and water proof boots.

The Bug is parked in the garage, awaiting some free time and cooperating weather to undergo a few winter projects. The aforementioned cold weather and frequent snow fall makes driving the classic cars a bit less enjoyable, not to mention more dangerous. In the case of my Bug, I don't fear driving it in the winter for the most part, the part that scares me are the other drivers on the road and the presence of ice on the road.
The first reason I listed is particularly scary: drivers up here don't slow down in the winter. Snow, water, nor ice will slow down these drivers. The thought of a careless driver sailing through an intersection because they didn't see the ice and hitting the Bug is a real nightmare for me. Once she is running again, I will occasionally take her out, but only if the skies are blue and the roads are dry.

Another item I'm going to have to get to is getting my bike back on my indoor trainer and get riding indoors again. I will admit I haven't gotten on the bike much this summer. With the impending cold weather, the holiday season, and difficulties getting into the pool, it is going to be very important that I put on those cycling shoes and get those wheels spinning. I need exercise and I don't want to get frostbite doing it!

Like I said, winter settles in early in Laramie and it sticks around until at least the middle of May. I just need to make the best of it until the mercury rises again!
