Downsizing

I haven't really been posting much lately. A lot of things going on with home and work, so I just haven't had much to share with you guys and gals. Honestly, I don't know who my followers are on this blog. Maybe a few family or friends? Maybe fellow swimmers or cyclists? Maybe a few of you are like me, trying to lose weight to make yourself feel better? Whoever you are, I do value your readership. Thank you.

As I've stated in my About Me page, one of my struggles in adult life has been my weight. There are many reasons why I've amassed the weight that I have, and honestly it was quite easy. I could do a multi-part series on the reasons why. Taking off the weight? Not so easy. It never is.

This journey to losing the weight has proven to be quite difficult. It is a matter of losing bad habits, sticking to new, healthy habits, and get moving! At my peak, I found it difficult to even find a weight scale that could measure high enough! At that point, I was in the ballpark of 420 lbs. I wasn't proud of where I had ended up.

In 2010, my (short) marriage had come to an end and I decided that I needed to take action. I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. The Internet became my valuable tool. I started learning about calories, exercises, food, etc., trying to gather enough information so that I could start my path to weight loss. For the next couple of years, I taught myself about making better choices when it came to cooking meals and tried to find an exercise program that I would stick to.

In the time since then, I've yo-yo'd with my weight. I would drop some weight, only to put a few of those back on. If I stuck to a healthier diet and kept busy, my weight would inch down the scale. But if I succumbed to temptation and laziness, the scales moved back up.

Well the change in scenery with moving to Wyoming seems to have had a positive influence on my weight loss progress. It seems in the last year or so, I've lost about 40 lbs and I'm at weight that I haven't seen in over ten years!
So as of this morning, I have lost a total of 72 lbs since I started tracking my weight on the My Fitness Pal app! I can't believe it! My wife came across our engagement photos from 2013 and commented that she could see my weight loss in my face.

So 72 lbs down, about 150 lbs to go! The journey continues!
