I miss swimming...

I miss swimming.

That's my point. Plain and simple.

This year has been quite crazy in my non-swimming life, including getting married, working full time, coaching girls water polo, and continuing to work towards my college degree. Of course we here on Earth only have 24 hours a day to get everything done, so I had to make a tough decision in February: what do I give up in order to make ends meet?

Since I am an analytically minded individual, I thought this all out. Ultimately I decided to make a TEMPORARY hiatus from swimming and devote my time to my upcoming wedding (which is now done). This allowed me to continue my work towards my B.A. degree (which will be done in July this year!!!).

My plan was to go back to swimming after the wedding was over with and after we returned from our one week stay in Arizona for our honeymoon. I made April 1st the target. It seemed reasonable.

That plan didn't factor in two issues: having the college class from h*ll and getting an upper respiratory tract infection. I spent most of April going home and studying. Doing homework. Participating on discussion boards. This one class consumed my time, like no other class I've had in the last two years. Just as I was starting to get a handle on that class, last week, I came down with that upper respiratory tract infection. With temperatures nearing 103F, my body went into hibernation mode and I spent most of the day laying in bed, sleeping. My body ached like I had just done an all out sprint 1650 swim.

That leads me to today. I'm back at work, but I'm still fighting the nasty cough. I really want to get back into that chlorine filled heaven and get back into the shape I was in before I took this hiatus. I know I'm going to have to really work my way back to where I was before.

Once a swimmer, always a swimmer. And I am a swimmer.
