Today was one of those days that I'm happy to be a swimmer and able to spend a part of it in the water. As things can get occasionally hectic at work, those things seem to wash away once I get in the water.
Tonight I tried to be a little productive before swim. I pulled into the pool's parking lot about an hour early, so instead of just sitting there and doing nothing, or even texting with someone, I decided that my time could be put to better use.
This is my first week of the term for my college class (online), so I took out my tablet (Google Nexus 7) and dove into the reading assignment for the week. Apparently I was on a roll, because the next thing I knew, I had read past the start of practice and had missed about the first twenty minutes of practice. Oops!
This is our last night at the Heritage Pool, and for that I am happy. Don't get me wrong, I love it that we have a pool that we swim in when the FPAC isn't available, but this pool has its issues. The first of which is the SHALLOW end. With my size and inflexibility, trying to do a flip turn down there can be a test of how close can you get to banging your head on the bottom of the pool or scraping yourself on the bottom as you push off. Next week we'll be back to our 7 ft deep lanes.
Even with getting in late, tonight's yardage is actually a bit higher than Wednesday. Tonight I swam a total of 1850 yds, 250 yds more than the other night. That places my 2015 #GoTheDistance total to a shade under two miles at 1.96 miles.
