Welcome to Tuna Can Org!
Tom's own personal web site.
Welcome to my personal web site. I'm flattered that you've taken the
time to stop by and to see what I have to say. I hope that you will enjoy the
stuff I've published here. If you have any questions about this site, or you'd
like to say "Hi!", stop by my Tuna Can
Forums or drop me an email. I'd like to hear
Tuna Can Org?
I know what you're thinking: What in the world does Tuna Can Org mean and how did I come to it. Well, in certain circles (mostly my VW buddies), my nickname is "Tuna", which is short for "Tommy Tuna".
A while back I decided to come up with a business name for my VW hobby, seeing as that was all I was doing at the time. I wanted to use the name Tuna in there somewhere and it came to me one day at my old job: a late model VW Bus (a '69 panel actually) came into the shop, and bingo, a name came to me. The name was a play on words with my name and applied in a couple of ways. The name was Tuna Can Engineering. The idea was a VW Bus which I'll someday own and I'll call it the Tuna Can.
I did this for a few years and when I started doing web sites for people, I realized I needed a company for my computer related endeavors. That's when I decided on Tuna Can Web Productions. That name uses the tunacan.net Internet domain.
I soon realized that I'd like to have a web that was for me personally, not my professional endeavors. In the spirit of the top-level domains, I decided to register tunacan.org, as the .org top level domains were to be reserved for non-profit use originally. They've since released that restriction, so anyone can register a .org top level domain. What better non-profit use than would be a web domain for myself? So I now use this domain for testing out new ideas and concepts.
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you'll stop by again soon!
