1997 Klein Pulse Pro

My current workhorse.

My 1997 Klein Pulse Pro mountain bike is my current workhorse bike, as it is the only bike I ride at the moment. I bought it many moons ago, (probably around '02 or so) but never really rode it. With my commitment to get back into bicycling, I invested some time and money into getting it back on the road. You can check out the specs below, but it's a pretty rock solid bike, especially being as old as it is. It never fails to have people looking and whispering at bike rides. You just don't see Kleins that often. :)

My plan is to continue to ride it on the road as I lose weight, but when I'm light enough to comfortably ride my '89 Klein Quantum road bike, I intend to use this Pulse Pro what it was designed to do: riding in the dirt! When it becomes my full time dirt bike, I will be using it to ride with the guys and gals with the Yucaipa High Mountain Bike team as a coach. It's definitely not the lightest or fanciest ride, but she'll do quite well for my purpose. Besides, she's paid for! :)

Update (March 11, 2012): I've found another use for the old Pulse Pro. Today was the first running of the Hog Canyon Classic, a SoCal league mountain bike race at Wildwood Canyon State Park in Yucaipa and I wanted to photograph it. Seeing as parking at the park was going to be tight, I decided to park across the street and use the Pulse to ride into the park. I also used it to ride around the course to get to spots that would make for the best photos. I just threw all of my equipment into my camera backpack, filled the water bottles with plenty of water, and as usual, the Klein performed flawlessly. :)

Trivia fact: this particular model is commonly referred to as a Trek-Klein, as it was made after Klein was bought out by Trek.
