1989 Klein Quantum
The apple of my eye...

The summer of '89 was the summer before my senior year of high school. I was really into bicycling by that time and in the spring our local bike shop (Don's Bicycle Shop in Rialto, CA) asked me if I wanted a part time summer job working for them as a bicycle mechanic and assembler. Of course, without hesitation, accepted the job offer. Getting paid to work on bikes? That was heaven!
I also knew that I was starting to have issues with the bike I was riding regularly then, my Trek 560. So every paycheck I saved and saved enough to get the bike I wanted. I wanted something that wouldn't flex on me, something strong. The bike I wanted was a Klein Quantum.
Lucky for me, the manager was willing to get the information we needed to get a frame from Klein. So late in the summer I received my 61cm Quantum frame. I spent my free time putting together the bike, spec'd with parts that I wanted. This bike is my pride and joy.
I hope to some day lose enough weight so that I feel comfortable on it. It's a sweet bike and one that I will *never* sell. :)
